    Engine oil temperature

I saw somewhere that alarms were set for 284*. That seems awfully high to me, I did process equipment repair and we had equipment that ran about 8000 RPMs, we never liked to see oil temps above about 160, at 180 we started getting concerned, BUT that was with DINO turbine oils. I like to allow a...

Best year to buy, and what should I do for bulletproofing.

First off, thank you for your service! It's kind of hard to offer advice on what to do to "save" your engine, but the consensus seems to say to eliminate DEF, EGR, DPF, CAT, BANKS INTAKE & a tune. I think soot buildup occurs when doing short trips where the engine never fully warms up, I haven't...

    FUEL MILEAGE

Since I bought my ECO on Dec 30 I've kept a close eye on fuel mileage. I typically drive 65-75 MPH on the highway, depending on the posted limit, normally I average around 23-24 MPG, but one fill-up last week netted 28.2 MPG. I use HOTSHOT SECRETS everyday diesel treatment, I try to add 1 oz per...

    Check Engine Light

Anything at this point would be a guess, you need to have it scanned for codes & go from there.

    Exhaust, 100 % Full

Alfaobd & the right obd interface dongle will allow you to force a regen, otherwise it's off to the dealer or another properly equipped shop.

    Engine oil temperature

Personally I don't like to see temps that high, it was only about 62* yesterday with heavy rain. I live in south-central Arizona and 110* is normal in the summer. I don't think my 2011 Duramax ever went over 190* IIRC, temps that high may be a factor in the bottom end issues. I wonder if there...

    Poor DEF Quality?

A refractometer is a device that measures the specific gravity of the fluid, I bought mine from Amazon for $25.00, came with a nice case too, they also have a tester like an old style antifreeze or battery tester with the floating balls, I don't add fluid without checking it first.

    Engine oil temperature

Just wondering if any of y'all happen to monitor engine oil temp and if so what seems to be normal. I made a run into the city today and oil temps were in the range of 215-219*, having a a production machinery background we always started getting concerned at about 160*, so what do y'all think.

    oil sample

When doing failure analysis we always took oil samples. If there is coolant in the oil it may be mixed into the oil, if so the oil wil be milky.

Ecodiesel Exhaust filter 100% full Fix

You'll need to research and maybe ask the authors about capabilities. Alfa seems to be a very powerful app, but it's limited to FCA. A pro level diagnostic package will cost a pretty penny. I have an outdated version of AUTOENGINUITY and highly recommend it if you will use it, such as in a shop...

    oil sample

You can get a sample from the drain plug hole, ideally the engine and oil should at operating temperature, this gets everything mixed in, if you can't get the engine warm I think I recommend 3 or 4 samples at different times while draining, this is where a FUMOTO or EZ-DRAIN would be nice. I...

Sorry Pete, I didn't look at the picture.

    Engine oil

Age shouldn't matter on oil. I think the oil was Valvoline Premium Blue and NOT Premium Blue Extreme. Similar enough that it could cause confusion if you're not paying close attention, at least with the different Rotella oils the jugs are a different color.

    Engine oil

I'll bet the VALVOLINE was NOT the PREMIUM BLUE EXTREME, but rather the predecessor "PREMIUM BLUE".

    Engine oil

I used to work on some BIG diesels that contained silver bearings, we couldn't have any zinc in the oil as it would plate itself onto the silver and screw things up.......BADLY.

    Engine oil

VALVOLINE PREMIUM BLUE EXTREME meets all requirements for fca MS-10902 & CUMMINS CES 20086, I'll probably start switching over after my next oil change. It' about $66 on amazon.

    Buy or stay away?

The delete will render the truck illegal as it is illegal to remove or disable emission controls. If it's deleted and you live in an area that requires emission testing, it probably won't pass, tunes will void the warranty if the dealer finds it.

    Regen Question

Scan gauge 2 is a programmable gauge package that will allow you to monitor soot mass and regens, plus a host of other things, it's 139 bucks on Amazon, you will need to program those gauges in, I think there's 5 lines of info that has to be entered. I have one in my 17 along with an EDGE...

Eco Diesel Oil to use in 3.0 Eco-Diesel

I don't know what year your truck is but the owners manual also specifically states T6 as acceptable, I think there are others too, but I'm gonna stick with what THEY say to use, technically any oil that meets the requirements specified by MOPAR should be OK. Just keep proof, also keeping...
