Thanks John, I'm looking at both, but a little leery of the new GDE TUNES because they are new, on the flip side they say they're EPA 49 state approved.
John, I'm starting to look seriously at tunes for my ECO, I've checked GDE & SFT, these are the choices for me, the EPA approved GDE tuneis adverting 75% reduction in soot production and fewer regens, how do you think the sofaking package comparesas far as soot production, I've read your posts...
I think there are 3 or 4 companies making tunes for the ECO, I like thought of SFT's tuning through the OBD port, I don't know if the others have got that yet or not.
How is the SFT tuning, does it kill the throttle lag, what about fuel mileage, does it help, and how is performance? I'm considering tuning but the naming convention of SFT is a little off-putting, looking at a couple of the others, I want exhaust braking & high idle on demand, not just for warm...
Are you tuned or stock? I have scangauge 2 & monitor soot mass 2 EGT's & regen on or off. If I need to do a manual regen then it's ALFAOBD. I too have done the downshift to keep the revs up some. Normally a regen will complete in about 10 miles on the hiway.
It is mostly town, we live in a small town in rural Az, when it starts a regen I always try to let it finish, the only time I won't go for a ride to allow it to finish is IF I have to be somewhere, or if I don't notice it is doing one, I know it starts at about 73 grams or % whatever it happens...
With the Scangauge it lets me know when a regen starts and I drive until it finishes UNLESS I have to be somewhere, normally it has been around 75 miles between regens, the only difference I can think of is I filled up with Chevron fuel instead of my usual and had added some HOT SHOTS EXTREME to...
I just had my rig do its third or fourth regen in 130 miles, I monitor the regens with scangauge 2, soot mass is at 73 when it starts, if I catch it then I will go for a ride to allow it to complete, it's a 2017 RAM ECO, about 19000 miles. should this concern me?
I have to wonder how it got into the oil sump, unles the oil cap had been removed while the were working on it, or had the intake or a valve cover off, there's just not that many routes into the sump.
As an automotive tech since 1974 I can honestly say that if I bought a special tool every time the factory said to I could fill a 100,000 sq ft warehouse, sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
My daddy used to tell me "IF YA AIN'T GONNA USE YOUR HEAD, YOU BOUT AS WELL HAVE TWO ASSHOLES", that just happens to ring very true, I'm sure a little thought will come up with an idea at least, at best a solution.
I like that size on my BIG HORN, I had to put new tires on in January, personally I have been very, very happy with COOPERS, I'm on my third set, I don't remember which style I got but they are an all terrain type tire and offer very good traction and are QUIET going down the road.
