From what I've read they are all similar, and it will depend on how extreme you want to go, stage 1 allows you to keep the emissions intact with the EGR shut-off, (not sure on the new GDE tunes), stage 2 will require removing emission parts, I plan on sticking with stage 1. Everything I have...
I'm considering SFT, GDE has been shut down by the EPA and are just getting back in the game, so I don't know if they are shutting down the EGR, the question has been asked, but not really answered, I can understand that too, there's some others out there if you research.
Layout some cash and get a tuner, SFT, GDE or another if you like, from everything I have found it seems that disabling the EGR is the most advantageous thing you can do on theses engines.
I had a customer that had a very, very low speed vibration on his 79 Chevy 1/2 ton, we went through everything, balanced several times, checke alignment, he had alignment check on a top of the line computerized machine, they him all they could do was screw it up, he told them that it was done...
I kind of got that. It just seems kind of strange that it could happen like that, I can't afford witech, so I'll stick with ALPHAOBD & my AUTOENGINUITY scantool, but I need to update it, probably just replace it if I need it.
Ideally you should pull the driveshaft, and other and make sure the bearing itself isn't seized, it should be slightly snug in the rubber, BUT there are several types of cushion s for the bearing, some are like an air filled "pillow", while others may be more like soft live rubber, and others...
There doesn't have to be any play or "clicking in them, I have seen them freeze up to the point that they can't move. The resulting binding can cause vibrations, possible too that the driveshaft may have tossed a weight. The carrier bearing could be frozen up too forcing it to rotate in its...
2017, 3.92 gears, stock, I have gotten 28.8, hand calculated, 67 MPH on reasonably level ground, with a little mix of city in that run, very little wind, apparently just about ideal conditions, normal is 21 to about 24, I find that the go pedal pressure has a lot to do with it.
I bought my 17 on December 30,2019, the EGR cooler issue/recall was revealed(as it should have been), I've had no problems at all, the cooker isn't leaking yet, I checked on the mopar site & it says parts are available, but it seems that most are being told that it can't be replaced if it ain't...
I've got a 17 with 21000, I'm gonna do a stage 1 tune, keep the EGR but turn it off, that eliminates most of the issues, I figure if you shut the exhaust gas off going in to the EGR cooler you eliminate the thermal fracture problem, the tune can be returned to stock before a trip to the dealer...
The main issue is the EGR, you can just get a tune & turn the EGR off, that's what I'm planning, I bought a very gently used 2017 BIG HORN on Dec 30, 14,343 miles, now sitting at just about 21000, I love the truck, if that one is like mine, then the only thing you won't like is the throttle...
The EGR question was asked and the answer was very vague & merely said EGR operation was similar or something to that effect. I think EGR de-activation is critical & since I don't have to test the only time it would be a problem is remembering to swap the stock tune back in before warranty or...
