GDE +1.
I can't believe that it is 2016 and we are STILL dealing with EGR clogging problems. We had these issues 20 years ago in the first batch of TDI engines...incredible.
If DEF made it to the injectors, yes, bad. DEF is mostly water, water does extreme damage to diesel injection systems.
Two things - if it *honestly* was 30 seconds, of idling (and not 10 minutes) then it is possible that fuel from the tank didn't make it up to the injectors. The fuel filter...
My favorite - unsubstantiated opinions stated as somehow factual. Can you point to a collection of UOAs that show blue flame is better? Have you compared HTHS, sulfated ash content?
I think you're a bit too quick to place the "incorrect" tag on them. If MS-11106 is okay and CJ-4 is okay, I think you could say that the reps are not up to date, but unless FCA says that MS-11106 should *NOT* be used they are both 'correct' oils.
I get *VERY* uncomfortable when anyone stacks tunes and boxes. It is always a bad idea. I know GDE does extensive testing to be sure their tunes do not negatively effect engine/turbo life, and adding a tuning box on top of that throws all that testing into the garbage.
I'm not surprised...
GDE is adamant that the modified intakes do nothing for performance. Looking at it rationally, these trucks have an OE cold-air intake system. Most of the aftermarket intakes I see that are marketed as "Cold Air Intakes" remove the cold air snorkel and add some sort of shield to underneath the...
I have the ExTang Solid Fold and I think it is the best thing to happen to Automotive since the tire. Awesome cover, and easy to remove when I don't need it!
Buggy- that is odd. My manual doesn't have any engine related information - all of that is in the supplement. I think that is how FCA avoids useless information in the manual by separating the engine specific stuff.
I *HIGHLY* doubt they will send any sort of notification. Dealers will have...
Sure will. Added an option for Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5w40, which is a CJ-4. MS-11106 still available, too, of course.

John - sorry to be blunt, but no.
The image you posted isn't at all like the hub-bearing setup on our trucks. As jdn112011 posted, the bearing assembly is a sealed unit. The bearing is sealed and, if it is healthy, will not let anything inside. Older bearings and joints had "grease fittings"...
All the drama about MS-11106 seems to be over with FCA changing their oil recommendation recently. All the new owners manual diesel supplements now say:
We recommend you use 5W-40 synthetic engine oil such as MOPAR or Shell Rotella that meets FCA Material Standard MS-10902 and the API CJ-4 or...
Wow, this is crazy. I've never seen a company change an oil spec to make it EASIER for us to get oil. Hoping it isn't a mistake.
One thing that makes this really surprising to me is that the 5w30 weight has less pumping losses than the 5w40 weight. These trucks were test by the EPA and have...
I'm getting the same P0299 code intermittently on my ED - 13k miles now. It happens on first start up, seemingly randomly. The truck stays in (annoying) limp mode until I reset the code. Then it is gone. I will pull my MAP sensor and see how gummed up it is.
Potentially Useless Data Points...
I don't know about anyone else here, but I'm guessing I'm not alone in that I have been a part of a LOT of automotive forums. In the past few years there has been a very unfortunate trend of consolidation - the vast majority of automotive forums are now owned by venture-capital funded firms who...
