No kidding. Every time I need to go to the dealer for some type of warranty there is always some...extra-curricular work that gets done. I notice when the wrong bolt is put in the wrong place, or a wire loom isn't re-clipped and secured. A few places have...gotten to know me...through the...
Totally clueless dealerships strike again. I'm not trying to be fresh here, but, I really don't understand why people call their dealership for information? I work with dealerships all day, and none of them are tracking this type of up-to-the-minute changes. If they bothered to log into their...
CJ-4 5w40 synthetic opened up a huge range of options:
Shell Rotella T6
Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck (aka Delvac 1)
Chevron Delo LE
Kendall SHP
Plus a LOT of others. I'm waiting for clarification about ACEA A3/B4 approval, which is mentioned at one point in the new documentation. If A3/B4 is...
Since new my ED has had an annoying "clunk" in the steering wheel when changing directions. I'm pretty sure it is in the wheel linkage. It *seems* to have gotten louder lately, I used to ignore it but now it is really starting to bug me.
Anyone else have a clunky wheel?
Scanguage is a great way to add monitors to your field of view. I finally got around to installing mine in the ED to monitor EGT, coolant temp and boost pressures.
Scangauge comes with a bunch of default OBDII gauges, but you can add more through their 'X-Gauge' system. Here is the list of...
Alphabet soup! Can you explain to the rest of us common-folk what TOP/TUP mean?
Also "What GDE is monitors the EGR Valve" isn't a complete sentence and I'm not sure what it means. Can you clarify?
The only thing that would make me upgrade my ED to a Cummins is the available manual transmission. I'm still not loving this automatic thing, even though the 8-speed transmission is quite honestly flawless.
For what you are doing the ED sounds like a good option. Lots of miles, mostly with...
I might have answered my own question here. Since we have a relationship with Kendall through the GT-1 product, I've been looking at their SHP product as a replacement. CJ-4, full synthetic 5w40.
TBN - 9.3
HTHS - 4.2
Big jump in HTHS, but, big jump in Ash content too - 1%. Euro L is...
That is high, and it is probably emissions related. Funny thing - lots of guys with the Jeep Liberty CRDs are installing higher temp thermostats to try and assist MPG & performance.
Oil temps can be 220, 240, 250 etc. without concern. Coolant should not get that hot.
Thumbs up for this.
TBN isn't the only part of oil, though, and more TBN isn't always better.

Another point we can look at is HTHS - Euro L is 3.68 while Blue Flame is 3.5. Euro L has (marginally) better ability...
Moving on...
Going forward will you run ESP 5w30 or Turbo Diesel Truck (Delvac) 5w40 CJ-4?
Thanks for posting that TSB. I'm interested in the "Revised Oil Change Algorithm" and fan recalibration. Hopefully some members will get this "TSB/Recall/Reflash" done and get some feedback.
I don't think that type of language is necessary.
You are free to make whatever statement you want, and I am free to ask questions about why you make such a statement.
I didn't state any opinion on what oil is better. If I were to say something, I might say:
There have been good UOA Results...
Yes BITOG does have lots and lots and lots of information - so why didn't you cite any of it in your proclamation? It isn't my job to chase down facts to back up your claims about Blue Flame oil. If you are going to make some big sweeping claim, at least have the decency to back it up.
