PSA: FCA Changes Oil Specification Requirement for Ram 1500 EcoDiesels

I work at diesel shop and called my guy I get parts from, FCA sent out an email, whether everyone has read it or got it yet I don't know, but the update states that they can now use CJ-4 in the EcoDiesel, personally if I were you, use up your stock of 5-30 and be done with it

PSA: FCA Changes Oil Specification Requirement for Ram 1500 EcoDiesels

Yeah I'm not sure why anyone wouldn't want to run a 5w-40 oil, I guarantee the VOA's on CJ-4 based oils compared to the European crap are way better. As a customer I can't be mad at FCA for this change either. This happens in the automotive industry all the time. It's kind of like a TSB, should...

PSA: FCA Changes Oil Specification Requirement for Ram 1500 EcoDiesels

I suspect this stems from some new motor oil classes coming forth later this year, I believe they're calling it PC-11 and all CJ formulations will then be CK-4 and the newest versions of oil FA-4, there is a reason for a division in the category, but I think ecoDiesel owners are going to have a...

Are you affiliated with the TC diesel that does injection pumps and things of that nature?

    Fuel Additives

Yeah I did have an independent lab do a test of various fuels around the city I live in, some leave a lot to be desired, but I won't condemn those brands or stations because some of them still had blended fuel when the test was done. We just had an incredibly mild winter. When I lived in...

    Fuel Additives

I know bio is popular in the pulling world, Roadmaster is 2% bio/soy enhanced, which is awesome. Beyond that I haven't found a lot of bio commercially available to the public

    Fuel Additives

Some of the fuel may have changed, I usually try to get Cenex Roadmaster when it's available. I also run either Schaeffers Soyshield or Carbon Treat with every tank full. I refrence this study because some additives that a lot of people like to run are not helpful and some are actually harmful...

    Fuel Additives

There was a study done a few years ago on a bunch of additives and what they actually do for pickups, if I find the link I'll post it, definitely worth the read

    Speedometer recalibration

Yeah they seem to be nice tires, I need to figure out how big of a spare a person can fit underneath with dual exhaust, the factory donut leaves a lot to be desired

    Speedometer recalibration

Factory wheels and factory coil suspension and no spacers, with no rubbing; even with suspension compression and turning. The tire brand and style is Hankook Dynapro ATM, had a few sets of these on multiple 3/4-1 ton pickups and had great luck with them, figured I'd give them a shot on the half...

    Speedometer recalibration

Yeah I think he just didn't want to reflash it. Lazy pricks, probably just order an insight cs, can't really decide on if in gonna tune it or not. 274 degree oil temp is relatively insane!

    happy (so far) EcoDiesel owner

The rough quote I got is $3500 with the damage I was able to see and capture with my phone, at work for 3 weeks, thankfully the pickup is drivable. No major damage thankfully, think it will be a good time to upgrade to a Laramie Limited grill, I think I like the way those look.

    happy (so far) EcoDiesel owner

I'm good! Thanks! Sucks with right at 4,000 miles on it. Avoided an elk on the road a mile before that deer came sprinting across the highway. Gotta I've Ram credit the brakes worked awesomely!

    Speedometer recalibration

Yeah I thought that sounded pretty fishy that the emissions system would be designed around the tire size. I can understand a transmission being affected by a considerably larger tire, but not the emissions system and I only went up one size taller to get a 10 ply tire. I'm not against running a...
