It would be one of those circumstances if they did where I might actually agree with them denying it. If the guy had lots of testing and oil samples that showed with his driving habits that he could extend the interval that long then maybe, but bringing it in for its first hangs at 14,000 miles...
i've been looking for this post for a while, does anyone else see a problem, the guy was bringing it in for its first oil change with 14k miles on it, that's absurd and straight up negligence in my book
don't know if it adds a little or any fuel to this whole fire, went and had the dealer do an oil change and whatever else they say they do when they change the oil (bought the lifetime oil change deal when I bought the pickup $500, couldn't pass it up) and when I got the receipt it said 5w30 oil...
it doesn't seem like the HD pickups have the same issues with the EPA, maybe something to do with the the fact that they're not tested for fuel economy ratings like the 1/2 tons. This is pure speculation, I don't know if there could be any correlation.
anyone have any update on the 2017's? Company my father works for used to let everyone decide between Ford, Chevy, Ram pickups of the gasoline flavor. They get new pickups every 80,000 miles, apparently for 2017 they're making it mandatory that everyone gets a half ton ram equipped with an...
I personally haven't seen any drop in mileage, I'm assuming as with all diesel engines in passenger vehicles, my fuel economy is going to suffer a bit with the winter blended fuel now and until April in my region
It's actually #2 diesel that's dirty, #1 is more refined, but it has tendency to bind with the contaminants that #2 won't. Therefore you are correct, but the dirty fuel is actually the summer blend
I agree with you, but I know alot of people that get 100's of thousands of miles on their one tons and abused them severely. Mostly over loading them on weight while towing, but these engines blowing up without any concrete reasoning is concerning. A guy should be able to use a pickup for what...
yeah, unfortunately for us these days is the injection system works at much higher pressures and has much finer tolerances which require a filter to catch particles down to 3 microns or so compared to the good ol days of 10 microns or greater. Factory service manual deems it a 30,000 mile filter.
Best of luck! I'm very happy with mine thus far, and I think the Eco platform is a good one and think they finally put a good transmission behind the engine. Just maintain it and I'm sure it'll last you a long time.
it's crazy to see what issues a "good" battery can cause, I never trust the dang testers, makes diagnosing a bad battery hard to explain. I had a 2012 duramax with complete fuel system failure at 6,500 miles, needless to say it sat in the shop quite a while, got it back and everything seemed...
Chemical Guys makes some pretty cool stuff and everything I've used seems to do a fantastic job, easy to apply and more importantly comes off very nicely too.
30,000 miles on a diesel fuel filter is a very long service life out of a diesel fuel filter. I was thinking about 15,000 being a more reasonable service interval. Can't say that I've changed one yet so I don't know the difficulty of the procedure. The horizontal fuel conditioning module on the...
Looks like you're able to spec out a truck with an EcoDiesel online, I wonder if that is a good sign, or FCA not wanting to admit there is something going on. I know when the VW deal first started to become public they took the online option off immediately. I'm sure the new testing is probably...
I remember the last time an automaker and an engine manufacturer started bickering back and forth. Ford/Navistar, ended up in the two parting ways. Don't know what a Ram would be without a Cummins emblem on the side
That's not good news at all, I don't doubt what you're saying, but is there any paper trail yet, or is it word of mouth thus far?
Nevermind, took about 3 seconds and found a bunch of information. Not a good deal for two, the cummins has a pretty good reputation in light duty diesel pickups
Hope this doesn't affect the EcoDiesel too much, I knew the VW scandal would be an issue for all other manufacturers of small engines. I don't know anything about the 6.7 diselgate that TC is talking about, the diesel emissions game is going pretty poorly for the team that is for the compression...
I don't know first hand of any voided warranties on the ecodiesels due to tuning, mostly cummins powered pickups that I personally know about, my service writer told me that their policy with the ecodiesel is pretty much no tolerance to engine fueling upgrades.
not going to start a pissing match here, but have you seen how dirt is attracted to diesel fuel exposed to the elements vs gasoline? gas evaporates very quickly, diesel kind of hangs around for a long time, I highly recommend a cap over the filling port at all times while not in use
