Wonderful documentation of a "run around".
Pity the poor folk with out a computer and having no interest in any of this forum stuff. There's no notice to owners mailed out. No way many owners will find this information.
Fortunately, what's written in the manuals will and has worked.
Grease the front wheel bearings. To do it you pull the discs, remove the ABS sensors. Now fill that cavity with grease while turning the wheel around by hand.
As reported - Cummins thoughts. That does have two fuel filters, unlike the Ecodiesel. It also uses conventional 15-40 diesel oil. me about $
Curious. I buy aftermarket filters for less than $20. A case of Kendall costs $75 shipped in. That also gives me some extra oil I can carry with me. It...
50,000 miles right now. Just came back from a 5,500 mile tow.
Have noticed more and more Ecodiesels with over 50K and know of one with 190.000 miles on it right now. That's a good thing.
Get the 3:55 rears as you don't read like towing is much in the picture. Maybe a limited-slip rear differential is fine, 4 x 4 or not.
Options are personal. Other than a trailer brake controller, the rest is just fluff. Give me an engine and transmission inside a solid piece of transportation...
Since when is the Ram 1500 Ecodiesel rated to even tow ABOVE 10,000 lbs?
Makes no sense to me as most of the quad and crew cab models have tow ratings below 8,000 lbs.
Did not know there was such a thing. My brake controller does not have anything like that. Factory controller also. Set it the way each individual trailer brakes each time you hook up. Pull slowly and apply brake controller only, no truck brakes. Get a feel of how well it works, drags or locks...
Shawn Capson was reported to have passed away. Got that from another forum from information by his brother.
If true, the EcoDiesel community sure lost a prominent contributor.
Never had a throttle delay. Might be because I'm too stupid to notice one. Might be that my very early, near first, model did not have any delay from the start.
After thousands of miles with GDE my overall normal operation is right at 27 mpg if I do not tow.
Was the 6.4 the Power Wagon or the like? Gas VS diesel is not a fair comparison. Gas literally sucks and the rpm's are high with little torque and lots of horsepower.
Now the Ram 6.7 Cummins will get into the 20's as produced today. Not so with the ones from 2010 into 2013. Talking stock now.
I have read reports of a number ( 5-10) Ecodiesels used as escort vehicles that are both close to 200,000 miles and at least one is over that.
Cannot verify it now but have read those reports numerous times. There are many, many above 50,000 miles. Early on there were some engine problems but...
Man it's awful to hear FICA denies a claim because of a missing receipt.
Also not good there even is a claim. Hate to read about engine failures while so many have over a hundred thousand miles on them already.
