If the aandl0402 truck had the W58 recall completed it should run with a tone wheel failure and would have an extended warranty (see att). I'm not sure if it only has a sensor failure. Usually when the tone wheel fails it also takes out the sensor.
Check its recall data here...
The dealer is supposed to replace it with a current pump and replace that when the recall pump is available The current pump is probably not available either. Show the dealer this:
I've always used Ram's recommended Rotella T-6, 5w-40. Then In April 2023 a member of another forum called VM Motori, the Ecodiesel manufacturer, he asked them what is the best oil for his Ecodiesel. They said:
Synthetic European oil, MS-12991, 5w-40. MS-12991 is the important factor. So I...
There is a fix. Depends on your warranty. If in warranty the dealer is required to fix it with a current HPFP and replace all the affected fuel system components, clean the fuel tank, And then do the recall when the new pump is available. If no warranty you may be screwed. You bought it two...
If the battery is charged but has no power to the items you describe it may be a blown fuse on the battery. There are three:
100amp, 850w Engine Fan
125amp, Power Steering
250amp, Main Power Source
And if one is blown, maybe your "dead " battery isn't dead.
I should add that my 2016 has been tuned since new, First by GDE, the SFT, and currently MRT. All with the EGR shut off. So my DPF is somewhat protected unlike a stock tuned Eco
I don't believe short hop trips have anything to do with engine failure. The emissions system, EGR, DPF, and SCR are exhaust related, not engine related. Yes, the EGR system can destroy the intake manifold but not the engine.
Local, short-hop driving where the truck doesn't or hardly get to...
While there have been a disturbing amount of engine failures the failure rate is not large, it's only .92%.
There's a lot of speculation as to why they fail but nothing absolute other than the lower-end examples. It's the luck of the draw. One owner has reported he's on his third failure while...
Originally Rotella T6 5w-40
VM Motori has said to use a Synthetic European oil, 5W-40, MS-12991. So I am now using Quaker State Euro Full Synthetic 5W-40 (5-Quart - 22.97 Walmart & Amazon) The MS-12991 spec is what's important.
What makes you lean towards Amsoil? Amsoil reports better deposit...
There is no answer. If you want an answer, it will last from 0-500,000+ miles or more. The failure rate is less than 1% of all the Ecodiesels, meaning it hardly ever fails. There is no data on how the failed vehicles were used or maintained. Ram may have data on miles before failing or what...
She's neither ignorant or lying. Not sure what you expected her to say but your reaction deserved the click.
You are correct, the dealers are ignorant of the situation. I have a sharp and knowledgeable Service Manager who would also say there's no fix yet because he gets no info regards the...
Good, probably just under your limit. I would think a 30 footer loaded would be more than 7000. At least the ones here in SoCal headed for the desert would be. Enjoy your truck and your trip, it will definitely be better than the Hemi
