Ecodiesel vehicles built before June 2016 specs were changed in June 2016 to use 5w-40 oil and recommended Rotella T-6 or equivalent. Engine failures have nothing to do with brands of oil, only viscosity.
The best fossil fuel available has less lubricity than European fuel and the quality varies considerably in many areas. It has been attributed to the CP4 failures, thus the recommendations to use a lubricity-adding additive.
That's a great hitch but the pictured head is not a Sway Control head. You probably already know, when properly set up it should nearly lift the truck rear to its unloaded height. The bars should be parallel to the trailer frame. not angled down or up and the trailer should be level or down at...
Yes, The CTS3 can tell you the DEF being used, the demand, its % Urea, etc. The CTS2 I believe only monitors the SCR temp (EGT4)
I don't know what a "reductant quantity test" is
The Edge website will tell you it can do
That's old school, before EPA and emissions systems/equipment. Many would add an ashless 2-stroke outboard motor oil for it's lubricity. Adding drained oil was probably doing the same thing but dirtier.
Try it in today's close tolerance, high-pressure injected engines and I believe you'll...
Welcome to the forum
The newest Edge CTS3 will do all that you mention except initiate a regen
An Edge CTS2 will do it all and initiate a regen.
I use a CTS2 on my 2016 1500 ECO's daily driver short-hop local trips.
Whenever the CTS2 shows 65% soot level the Eco will regen. When it gets to 64%...
They just completed mine. Tubes and filter were also replaced. They do not flash the Ecodiesel ECU for the HPFP replacement, they only flash for the Cummins replacement.
Welcome to the forum
EGT1 - Pre-turbo Exhaust Manifold Temp - Located on the exhaust manifold to Turbo connector
EGT2 - DOC Inlet Turbo Outlet - Most accurate turbo temp
EGT3 - DPF Inlet - Active Regens begins @ 65% soot level on an Edge CTS2 or 3
EGT4 - SCR Inlet DPF outlet - SRC\DEF...
FYI regarding euro oil for the Ecodiesel.
In April 2023 a member of another forum called VM Motori, the Ecodiesel manufacturer, he asked them what is the best oil for his Ecodiesel. They said: "Synthetic European oil, 5w-40, MS-12991". MS-12991 is the important factor.
I know that Quaker...
Yes, it would be more effective. SFT's charge for a new tune would be at least 50.00. And with their record, in all probability they would probably screw it up and the battle would begin.
